Kathleen Florence Mayne

Kathleen Florence Mayne (née Christoffersen) was born on August 14, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska, to George Harry Christoffersen and Florence Theresa "Flora" Christoffersen (née Segi). Her father was a well-known florist in the Omaha community. As a child, Kathleen loved dancing. She graduated from Benson High School in Omaha and went on to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she met her future husband, Richard "Dick" Earl Mayne. They married on August 17, 1950, when Kathleen was 22, and shared nearly 49 years of marriage. During Dick's career with Northern Natural Gas, Kathleen and Dick lived in several places across the country, including Omaha, NE, Midland, TX and Dubuque, IA . She enjoyed golf, tennis, and made a home wherever they were living at the time, including their retirement in Scottsdale, AZ. Following Dick's death in 1999, Kathleen shared a meaningful companionship with Charles Ashton for more than 20 years. Together, they traveled to far-flung destinations and enjoyed a close, enduring bond. She is survived by her son, Jay Stuart Mayne and his wife, Katherine. Kathleen is also survived by her grandchildren: Hayley Bracken (née Mayne) and her husband Daniel Bracken, parents to her great-grandchildren: Daniel Shields Bracken IV Francine Collette Bracken Marissa Mayne and her spouse Candice Nassi Jeanine Cookson, mother to Hayley and Marissa She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Richard "Dick" Earl Mayne (1928–1999) Her parents, George Harry Christoffersen (1890–1971) and Florence Theresa "Flora" Christoffersen (1889–1981) Her siblings: George Jr. Christoffersen (1916–2000) Margaret Christoffersen (1910–1987) Ruth Christoffersen (1912–1982) Robert Herbert Christoffersen (1922–1981) William Charles Christoffersen (1931–2022) Kathleen was born and raised in Omaha and maintained lifelong connections to the communities in which she lived.
