I was blessed to have Miss McLean as one of the residents to whom I brought Holy Communion once a week. When I was new to doing this, the very first time, Miss McLean was sleeping. I tried gently to wake her, but when she didn’t respond, I said a prayer and moved on. When I reported this to a very kind activities director a while later, I was told, “Oh no, you’ll want to wake her. She won’t like to miss Communion.”.
