Kathleen Mary Perkins

 

On the morning of Friday, January 20, 2023 Kathleen Mary Perkins, 84, passed away to return to her heavenly home. Kathy was born December 15, 1938 to John Henry Reusser and Susan Florence Titensor in Boise, Idaho. She was the eighth of nine children. She honored her parents and loved her siblings very much. Kathy grew up in Idaho on a family farm and had all kinds of outdoor adventures when she was a child. She graduated from Boise High School in 1957.

After graduating high school and marrying, she lived in Oregon and a little later on found her way back to Idaho. She was blessed with five children in those early family-growing years. A second marriage brought her to Utah where her youngest two children were born. Single once again, she started square dancing where she met Richard Perkins, and they were sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple December 18, 1985. They lived on Mutton Hollow in Kaysville many years together and created a comfortable home base for the family to gather at.

 

Kathy retired from being a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service after about 35 years of working there. She worked in several departments and all kinds of shifts around family schedules over the years, but as the kids were getting older she loved working four-tens; working these hours gave her Fridays off and she enjoyed all the three-day weekends it provided. This extra time was spent shopping, camping, boating, and being with family.

Kathy was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and used her many talents in all of her callings. She would read her daily scripture study out loud to you if you happened to be in the room. Music was her absolute favorite part of life. She sang in every church choir she could be in and was the most animated alto on the stage. She joined the Davis Master Chorale when it was created, and it gave her more than 25 years of happiness and several travel experiences. They performed some of the most difficult classic pieces and she appreciated the challenge of even learning some Latin, German, and Italian for her choir. Not being able to go to rehearsal and perform these last few years was very difficult for her and she missed it so much. Kathy would read, sew and crochet, bake the best holiday pies, and was honored to serve in the Bountiful Temple.

Being a grandma brought her so much joy. She welcomed 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with open arms and a great lap to rock-a-bye on. There are a few more greats expected this year. She was simply thrilled when every one of them came into the family. The house had a pool and hot tub, a trampoline, and a playground for them to all enjoy when they were visiting. She loved supporting them in their interests as much as she could, and was always proud of their efforts and wowed by their talents.

She is survived by her children Susan (James) Butler, Kayleen (Aaron) Rich, Joshua (Maribel) Stinger, Samuel Perkins, Kristy (Darell) Jensen, and daughter-in-law Jana Stinger. As well as two of her siblings; her brother Merlin (Eleen) Reusser and sister Althea (Chuck) Orvis.  She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Perkins, two sons Richard and Robb Stinger, her parents, four brothers Gene, Kenneth, Tom, Harold, and two sisters Ruth and Frances.

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Thursday, January 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday January 27 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at mortuary.

 

Interment will follow at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
