Kathleen Faye “Kathy” Wacaster Reese, 87, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025.
Kathy was born on September 6, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the fourth of 9 children born to Earl Obed Wacaster and Wanda Curtis Wacaster who preceded her in death.
Aside from a short time spent living in San Diego, California, she lived in Pocatello all her life. She caught the eye of Leon K. "PeeWee" Reese on the dance floor at Deleta. They were married May 15, 1956 and were inseparable until his death in 2016. She worked for Dr. Hobson, a dentist in Pocatello, before joining Farm Bureau Insurance, where she was employed for many years until her retirement. Known for her strong work ethic, cheerful spirit, and easy laugh, Kathy made friends everywhere she went.
She and PeeWee shared a lifelong passion for classic cars and were proud longtime members of the Classy Car Club. Together, they could often be found polishing chrome, swapping car stories, and traveling the region to car shows, showing off their prized 1957 Ford Fairlane.
One of Kathy’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with them in the motorhome. She loved an adventure and never passed up a road trip. Many treasured memories were made together visiting Lagoon, Yellowstone, Disneyland, the Redwoods, Mount Rushmore, and countless stops in between. Her laughter, sense of fun, and warm hugs made every trip unforgettable.
Kathy was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived her faith with kindness, humility, and service to others.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Mark Sorenson; sister, Bernice Noreen; brothers, Don (Karan) Wacaster and Vernon (Juanita) Wacaster; sister-in-law, Joan (Fred) Ball; grandchildren, Brandon (Christine) Sorenson, Dallas (Whitney) Sorenson, Denton Sorenson, and Ciara (Nick) Martin; great-grandchildren, Torvi and Taylor Nguyen-Sorenson, William “Liam” and Emilia “Emmy” Sorenson, and Joel and Bridger Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon K. “PeeWee” Reese; daughter, Darla Giovanni; brothers, Floyd, Robert, Dean, and Victor Wacaster; and sisters, Wanda Harris and LaRae Wacaster.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Copper Summit Assisted Living and Heritage Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care over the last five years. A special thank you to Tyson, Renee, Michael, Emily, Candace, Becky, and the rest of the staff for their kindness and support.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. A viewing will be held prior beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID.
