Kathleen A. Scamfer, age 89, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at Hilltop Grand Village in Wisconsin Rapids.
The family will be holding a private service.
Kathy was born on March 3, 1936, in Washburn WI, to Arnold and Cora (Gregoire) Anderson.
Kathy was known as the athlete of the family - always on the move and always up for a challenge. A talented golfer, she spent many happy days on the greens as a proud member of Lake Arrowhead Golf Course. Back in the day, she could often be found at the bowling alley, where she was just as skilled and competitive.
Even in her free time, she was a busybody at heart. She loved taking long walks, tending to her yard, and keeping her flowers in perfect shape. She had a gift for keeping her hands busy.
A longtime member of the Red Hat Society, she cherished the friendships and sense of community it brought. She was also deeply creative and generous with her talents. She loved to sew and crochet, making everything from Barbie clothes, clothes for her kids, and cozy pajamas for her grandkids. Through the Red Hat Society, she also volunteered her time making fleece hats for people in need - a reflection of her caring spirit and selfless heart.
She also had a love for collecting giraffes - a hobby that brought her joy and became a special part of who she was. Her grandchildren fondly called her "Grandma Giraffe," a nickname that perfectly captured her love for them.
Kathy is survived by her children, Lori Wormet, Diane (Mike) Glodosky, and Lynne Gebert; grandchildren, Stephanie, Gwen, Chris (Pam), Caroline (Ryan), Teresa (Tyler), Jaime, Melissa, and Nick; great grandchildren, Taylor, Skylar, Caleb, Cassie, Jack, Ayven, Norah, and Izzy; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son in law, Greg Wormet; grandson in law, Jesse Varney; and siblings, Andy, Bill, Jeanette, and Joanne.
The family would like to thank Hilltop Grand Village along with Nicole and staff for their exceptional care, compassion, and utmost respect during Kathy's eight years of living at Hilltop.
