Kathleen ("Cass") Frances Schloth, 93, of Reading, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2025. Born on October 19, 1931, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Kathleen was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Evelyn Hughes (née Corrigan). She dedicated her life to her family, always providing guidance, support, and love.

Kathleen earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Mt. Auburn Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1954. She was honored by her classmates as the "Cover Girl" featured in the Boston Globe's Sunday supplement on January 2, 1955. Her nursing career included positions at Winchester Hospital,  The New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn and the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Kathleen was a devoted mother to her seven children: Michael, Donald, Edward, Ann Anton, Nancy Daneau, Kathleen, and Jane. She was also a loving grandmother to three grandchildren: Erick Anton, Greyson, and Hannah Daneau. She is survived by her siblings Roberta Iler and Joseph Hughes, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Joseph Schloth, as well as her siblings Eleanor "Suzy" DePass, Elizabeth "Dolly" Gringeri, Barbara Tierney, and Patricia Nolan.

Known for her intelligence, sharp wit, and playful humor, Kathleen was a voracious reader. She loved her garden and the many animals that visited it. Valuing education highly, she ensured that all seven of her children obtained a college education. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

At the age of 78, Kathleen was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She prevailed through two years of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, supported by her family. Throughout this time, she continued to enjoy the company of her children, grandchildren, and friends, maintaining her sense of humor and uplifting spirit.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Kathleen's Family on Thursday, July 3rd from 4-7pm in the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street READING.
