Kathleen Shapard Terry

Kathleen Shapard Terry died peacefully on November 8, 2025 at her home in Grosse Pointe Farms.
Kathy was born on August 9, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, to Barbara Reynolds Terry and Sydney Lee Terry, the fourth of six children. She grew up and spent much of her life in Grosse Pointe Farms, most recently at the American House Senior Living Center, where she had found great happiness and joy. She attended school at St. Paul's on the Lake, where she developed her lifelong love of reading, and graduated in 1970. She remained a proud Laker throughout her many travels, and in 2005 she was happy to return to Grosse Pointe to help her parents age in place. After the death of her father in 2009 she provided the devoted assistance that helped her mother maintain her sense of dignity and independence until her death in 2019.
She especially enjoyed her time spent reading to the young children of Richard Elementary as a volunteer teacher's aide, where she was awarded with the Golden Apple Award for her dedication and service.
She was predeceased by her parents, and eldest brother, Christopher Lee Terry (Mary). She is survived by her sisters, Sheila Terry Tomkinson, of Ft. Wayne, and Martha Terry Dempsey (Joe), of Carrollton, Texas; brothers Mark R Terry (Kathi) of East Lansing, Michigan, and S. Lee Terry (Kathy), of Denver, Colorado, in addition to many loving nephews and nieces.
A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, December 4th at 9:30 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Paul on the Lake, 157 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms.
