Kathleen "Kathy" A. Trejchel
July 17, 1946 - October 8, 2025
Kathleen Ann Trejchel, nee Brady, passed on October 8, 2025, age 79, surrounded by loved ones at Otterbein Sunset Village, her home for the last 3 years. She received dedicated care at Otterbein as part of a 4.5 year battle of recovery from a stroke.
Kathy was born July 17, 1946, in Toledo, OH. She was a lifelong Toledo resident and had a long and varied working career. You may have purchased an Atari from her at Montgomery Ward Southwyck, jewelry from Broer-Freeman, or rented office space at the historic Spitzer Building, where she was the building manager. She was also an entrepreneur, having created her own floral and catering business.
Kathy's career was inspiring, but her biggest impact was as a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. In addition to family, Kathy had a loving group of friends called the "Ya Ya's" that formed in high school, at Woodward. They consider each other sisters, and their friendship continues to present day.
Kathy had many interests and hobbies, including music, movies, and art. She sang in the Sweet Adelines and was active with the Stormy Petrels of Maumee Bay, a scion of Sherlock Holmes. She was also an active member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Everyone looked forward to the annual St. Patrick's Day gathering hosted by Kathy and her husband, Vince, and the family always enjoyed the annual trip to Frankenmuth, MI. She and Vince relished traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, and especially on their many trips abroad, including Ireland, England, France, Italy, and Germany.
Left to cherish Kathy's memory are her devoted husband, Vincent; daughter, Colleen (Keith) Perrine; son, Joseph (Laura) Boes; son, Patrick Trejchel; daughter, Elizabeth (Tyler) Chivington; grandchildren, Connor, Kyleigh, Isabella, Ava, Fionna, Dylan, Lennox, Krystal, Talon, Miles, Wesley, and Savannah; niece and goddaughter, Jacquelyn (John) Wilkinson; brother, Thomas (Barb) Brady; several nieces and nephews, and many friends, including Mary Wittman and the Spitzer family. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Brady and Mary Ann (McDonagh) Brady Buford; stepfather, Richard Buford; and sisters, Maureen Brady, Christine Brady, Colleen Brady, and Josephine Wronkowicz.
Visitation will be held at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Monday, October 13, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., and Tuesday, October 14, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., followed by funeral services, in the mortuary, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
