Trunk, Kathleen Marie (Lunz) of Fallston, Maryland passed away on February 23, 2025. Kathy is survived by daughter Melissa and her husband Bob Donahue of Holmes Beach, Florida, by daughter Stephanie and her husband John “Rusty” Wild of Fairfax, Virginia, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Kardash Trunk of Edgewood, Maryland former wife of the late Charles Francis Trunk, Jr. Kathy is also survived by her four loving grandchildren—Mia Trunk, Conor Donahue, and Grace and Jack Gradishar—and her beloved brothers Joseph Lunz and his wife Karen and Phillip Lunz and his wife Deborah.

Kathy was born on March 18, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in Essex, Maryland and went to Mt. Carmel High School. Thereafter, she attended the University of Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1969, where she met her husband of 55 years—Chuck Trunk Sr.—who predeceased her by 6 months to the day. Kathy and Chuck were married the day after graduation and moved to Fallston, Maryland where they together raised three children, Melissa, Stephanie, and Chuck Jr.

Kathy enjoyed her career as a pharmacist, working nights for St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland. Once her children were older, Kathy enjoyed a second career as a retail pharmacist for Klein’s supermarkets (now ShopRite). Kathy loved living in Fallston and the community there. She played bridge often with both a couples’ and ladies’ group. She loved being a mom and attended all of her children’s activities—from sports to dance recitals to leading girl scout troops.

Kathy was faced with the challenge of her lifetime when she suffered a debilitating, life altering stroke in 1994 at only 48 years old. Sadly, she also lost her only son Chuck Jr. when he was only 37. But Kathy persevered and always chose happiness. Her positive energy and enjoyment of life radiated not only to her children and grandchildren, but to everyone she encountered. She traveled often despite her disability visiting Germany, Ireland and numerous bus trips throughout the United States, including the black hills of South Dakota. One of her favorite sayings was “life goes on.” She loved her family and visits from her grandchildren. Her favorite food was crab cakes—she would quite literally eat them every day if she could. She enjoyed “sweetie wine,” often telling others she liked “one glass of wine,” but always had a refill.

A memorial service will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church, 13305 Long Green Pike, Hydes, MD 20182 on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10am followed by a reception in her honor. Family suggest contributions be made in her name to Patient Advocate Foundation, 421 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA 23666.
