Kathleen M. Vitale

COHOES Kathleen M. Vitale, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn with her loving family by her side.
Born on February 22, 1944, Kathy was the daughter of the late Jack and Madeline Shea. She was born in Manhattan, raised in Freeport, NY and finally in her Golden Years made it to Upstate New York.
She worked at St. Peter's Hospital for 21 years as a medical biller. Prior to that she had spent many years in the insurance business.
Kathy enjoyed traveling, painting, reading books, playing cards, trips to the beach, visiting casinos, ice-coffees and watching the grandchildren play softball. Most importantly, she loved to entertain and spend time with her family.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband who she has been with for 47 years, Joseph Vitale of Cohoes; by her loving children, Jeanne McOmber (Dave), Carol Hopkins (Paul) and Patricia Steinhauser (Kevin); by her brother, John D. Shea (Robin); by her grandchildren, Steven McOmber (Sarah), Jessica Koenig, Nicole McOmber (Michael Carroll), Danielle Nichols (James), Kaitlyn Steinhauser, Kelly Steinhauser and Aiden Steinhauser. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, a niece, a nephew and her best friend of 30 years, Rochelle Epstein.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m.
