Kathleen S. Waltos, 84, of The Villages, Fla., passed away Jan. 27, 2026, at The U of F Hospital in Spanish Plains.
Kathy was born in the Park Slope section of Manhattan to Daniel Treacy and Mary Mokris. When her parents passed away, Kathy moved with her sister to live with their grandmother in Swoyersville.
She was employed as a supervisor at Commonwealth Telephone and later as a second grade teacher in New Jersey.
As a cornea and tissue donor, Kathy's compassionate spirit lives on through the lives they've touched. In giving the gifts of sight and healing through cornea and tissue donation, Kathy's legacy of love endures. Through the selfless gifts of cornea and tissue donation, Kathy has brought hope, healing, and vision to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Waltos, on Sept. 9, 2002.
Surviving are her sister, Mary Treacy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her companion, Nicholas Gotch.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
