Kathleen Witty

Kathleen L. Witty, retired physical therapist, passed away on May 10th at the age of 68. She was a 1980 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stephen Patrick Witty, daughter Emily Witty, brother Barry Schwaab, and sister Joan Marie Bodley. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother Richard Schwaab, and her parents, Elizabeth and Robert Schwaab.

Kathy was an accomplished equestrian, whose love of the sport brought her and her husband together and cultivated a close-knit community of lifelong friends. For over 35 years, she dedicated her professional life to working as a physical therapist where she traveled to patients' homes to help them heal from surgery or illness. She was also deeply committed to protecting the environment and firmly believed that all creatures on our planet have value. In the summertime, you could be sure to find her on the front porch of her historic home in Woodbine, reading the Baltimore Sun newspaper while the sun set behind the massive oak tree at the front of the farm. She named the property Wit's End Farm, and spent the last 30 years there with her husband, building a life steeped in their mutual love of nature and the rural countryside.

A committal service will be held Wednesday, May 15 at Serenity Ridge Natural Burial Cemetery and Arboretum located at 2406 Ridge Rd, Windsor Mill, MD 21244 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund online at worldwildlife.org.
