Kathleen C. Zawalich, 79, of Hamden, beloved wife of Walter Zawalich, loving mother of Rebecca (and Michael) Donegan of Wallingford, Matthew (and Kala) Zawalich of Cheshire and Mark Zawalich of Hamden, passed into eternal peace at her home on Monday, March 17. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren Owen, Molly, Maggie Donegan, and Daniel and Kira Zawalich. She is also survived by loving sisters-in-law, Ellen Peloquin of Millbury, Massachusetts, and Barbara Lemoine of Auburn, Massachusetts. Also surviving are her dear nieces, Patty Burke-Wey and Christine Bizinkauskas, and nephews, Tim Burke and Anthony Lemoine. She was predeceased by a sister Joan Burke, and brothers-in-law, Roger Peloquin, Alfred Lemoine, and Michael Burke. Kathleen was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 29, 1945, daughter of the late Francis and Marie Cote Crimmin. Kathleen graduated from St. Peter's Central Catholic High School in 1963 and from Florida State University in 1973, with a bachelor's degree in Math Education. She retired after 32 years as a Research Associate for the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale School of Nursing. Final respects can be paid at the Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., in Hamden, on Monday, March 24. The family will receive friends from 9 am - 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., in Hamden.
