Kathlene Helen Davis, age 78, joyfully entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2024. After a life well lived and a race well finished, Kathy now rests in her eternal home, fully embraced by the grace she so faithfully shared with others.
Born on August 24, 1946, in Richmond, Michigan, to Carl and Evelyn Schudlich, Kathy’s life was marked by love, generosity, and devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. Though she was a talented licensed cosmetologist, her most cherished role was that of a loving homemaker, dedicated to creating a warm and nurturing environment for all who entered her home.
On April 8, 1967, Kathy married her beloved Gerald Lee Davis, and together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story is one of faithfulness, joy, and partnership, a testament to God’s goodness. They were blessed with three children: Paul Landon (Martha) Davis, Sarah Lynn Gombis (nee Davis), and John Wilson (Danielle) Davis, and eleven treasured grandchildren: Landon, Kierstin, Rachael, Ian, Jake, Madeline, Riley, Jana, Evan, Ethan, and Matthew.
Kathy was not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother but also a gifted quilter, artist, and singer. Her creativity brought beauty to all aspects of her life, and her heart for service shone brightly through her deep involvement in Berean Baptist Church, where she was known for her kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart. Whether studying the Scriptures, ministering to others, or sharing her gifts in the church community, Kathy reflected the love of Christ in all she did.
Kathy’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness lives on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Gerald, her brother John (Peggy) Schudlich, her three children, and her eleven grandchildren, each of whom adored her. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Fredrich, and her sister Marilynn, who now welcome her home.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 South 12th Street, Portage, MI 49024. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Langland Funeral Home, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, and again at 10:00 AM on Friday at Berean Baptist Church. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to ABWE’s Global Gospel Fund (www.ABWE.org), continuing Kathy’s passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with the world.
Kathy’s life was a beautiful reflection of the love of Christ, and she will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
