Rest in Peace. We love you.
Santa Rosa native and longtime Plumas and Lassen County business woman and Quincy resident Kathlene Marie (Johnson) Fehrman, with her children at her side left us to join her mother and brother in the care of Our Lord Sunday night, March 17th, 2013 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Born April 22nd, 1953 in Fresno, California as the middle child to Randolph and Marian, (Lovas) Johnson the family shortly thereafter moved to Santa Rosa where Kathy attended and graduated from St. Rose Elementary and later from Santa Rosa High School as a member of the "Class of 1971". She went on to attend Santa Rosa Junior College while also working for North Bay Mortgage Company later sold to Wells Fargo Mortgage.
While conversing with friends on Fourth Street she struck the eye of a recent enlistee in the Army, John Fehrman. She called, wrote those letters any veteran could appreciate and visited during leaves from Viet Nam and Germany. Following his discharge the couple was united in Holy Matrimony at St. Rose Catholic Church in Santa Rosa on October 3, 1976. A year later following her husband in his career, the couple relocated to Salinas, CA where she worked for Wells Fargo as an Assistant Operations Manager at their Auto Loan Center.
In 1978 shortly after having her first child she and John moved to the Northeastern California community of Greenville where the couple purchased the Funeral Homes in Greenville, Chester, and Westwood, CA and in 1990 moved to Quincy with the business expansion. Family was always first and foremost in Kathy's life whether it be caring for her husband and children or her mother and brother, Kathy was always able to juggle the life of a business owner and mother. She was at the forefront of professional women in the funeral industry and showed many a male counterpart that a woman was just as good or better in all aspects of the profession.
Kathy enjoyed traveling, especially had a love of the ocean, liked a good meal out and in just the last couple of years became enamored with her two grandsons. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children especially the fact that she was able to provide them with a college education, a dream she always wanted to obtain.
In leaving Kathy leaves her husband; John Fehrman of Quincy, CA, her loving children who were at her bedside continually for the past seventeen days; Steven J. Fehrman and his wife Jennifer of Penn Valley, CA, Nicole A. (Fehrman) Taborski and her husband Jed of Santa Rosa, CA, and her baby; Ashley M. Fehrman also of Santa Rosa, the jewels of her recent life her grandsons Carter J. and Jackson J. Taborski along with her sister; Marianne "Annie" Pedro and her husband John and niece Vanessa Pedro of Santa Rosa, CA.
A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, March 23rd, 2013. An opportunity to express your condolences to the family is available online at www.fehrmanmortuary.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel. Interment will take place next to her mother and brother in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa, CA. The family asks that any remembrances in Kathy's memory be made to the American Red Cross, 5297 Aero Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
