Kathlene Koler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Dec. 13, 2025.
Kathlene "Kathy" Ann Koler
October 20, 1945 – December 11, 2025
Kathlene "Kathy" Ann Koler, age 80, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Rochester, Michigan.
Kathy was born on October 20, 1945, in North Tonawanda, New York, to Harry "Bud" and Arline Slater. She earned an Associate's Degree as a Medical Office Assistant from Erie County Technical College and went on to build a remarkable 40-year career as a typist and proofreader for court reporters. Known for her precision and dedication, Kathy took great pride in her work and was admired for her exceptional attention to detail.
On September 18, 1965, Kathy married the love of her life, Marvin A. Koler, in Buffalo, New York. Together they raised two children, Ric and Kristy. In 1966, Kathy and Marv moved to Michigan, eventually settling in Rochester Hills in 1979, where they built a life deeply rooted in family, friendship, and community.
Kathy was a tireless volunteer and a pillar of the Rochester-area community. She was an active member of the Meadowbrook Theatre Guild, serving as a board member and organizer of its major fundraiser, Spotlights, and was also a member of the Meadowbrook Women's Club. As a charter member of the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan, Kathy served on the board and created the well-known Monday Morning Update. She also played a key role in launching the organization's flagship fundraiser, the ReSale Connection resale shop in downtown Rochester. In addition, she was also a founding member of the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester Women's Fund. Her leadership, vision, and dedication left a lasting impact on countless organizations and individuals.
Above all else, Kathy deeply loved her family and friends. She was hardworking, generous with her time, and devoted to those she cared about.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Marvin Koler; her children, Ric (Kara) Koler and Kristy (Wade) Stevenson; her cherished grandchildren, Shane (Chelsea) Koler, Troy Koler, Kade (Madison) Koler, Brantley Griffin, Braden Koler, Conner (Rachel) Stevenson, Cam Stevenson, and Carley (Thomas) Stevenson; and her siblings, John (Pat) Slater and Denise (Jeff) Moorfoot. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Arline Slater, and her brother, Bill Slater.
Kathy's warmth, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan would be appreciated.
