Kathryn Marlene Keefer Beeler, 92, was born October 21, 1932 in Metal Township.
She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Brindle Keefer. She grew up in the Mercersburg and Fort Loudon area and graduated Mercersburg High School in 1951.
After meeting in high school, Marlene married Donald L. Beeler, the love of her life, on October 25, 1952.
She worked as a custodian for the Mercersburg Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches, and the Mercersburg Elementary school from 1958 until June 1993. In 2007 she moved to Chambersburg with her husband. She loved sports and she especially enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, Tar Heels basketball, and Penn State football. She also enjoyed puzzles, coloring, reading, and walking.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Donald L. Beeler, Sr., of 73 years; two children: Deborah (Chip) Vink of Mercersburg, and Donald (Debra) Beeler, Jr. of McConnellsburg. She is also survived by three grandsons: Nathan (Mariah) Vink, Heath (Leslie) Vink, and Nicholas Beeler; and six great-grandchildren: Gavin, Colin, Nolan, Hudson, Hadley, and Holden. She also is survived by two sisters: Audrey Pfieffer and Roberta Keefer.
Marlene was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at Fries Funeral Home with Pastor John Star officiating. There will be a private family burial following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fulton County Medical Center.
