Kathryn Eagan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home - Louisville on Dec. 3, 2025.
Kathryn Givan Eagan, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2nd, to be with "The Good Man Upstairs." She was a woman of laughter and positive thinking, qualities that shaped her life and the lives of those around her.

She was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and spent her summers in Burkesville, Kentucky, where she developed the roots and values that stayed with her throughout her life. Kathy had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. She built a long and meaningful career in financial aid at Sullivan University and enjoyed many years of success with her Avon business, where she formed lifelong friendships. She also held a long-running fictional role as the "head chicken plucker at KFC," a title she proudly claimed because it never failed to make everyone giggle.

Kathy was a longtime member of Buechel United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and remained active in the church community. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she often reminded others to "let go and let God."

She loved coordinating the colors in her outfits, enjoyed her motivational quotes and devotionals, and especially cherished spending time with loved ones and her kitty, Ruby. She was a fierce card shark and a true Canasta queen. Her family, who lovingly knew her as "Granny KK," brought her tremendous joy.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Fiske and Hank Eagan; along with her six grandchildren and a whole mess of great-grandchildren.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Eagan. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited once again, sharing the peace and love they always held for each other.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00 am –11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, in Louisville, KY. A burial in Hopkinsville, KY will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Kathy's memory to Buechel United Methodist Church or the Kentucky Humane Society.
