Kathy Elaine Wright Hezel, 56, the heart of her home and family, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025.
Born on October 10, 1969, Kathy was the daughter of Ray and Linda Wright. She graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Accounting, a field where her steady dedication shone through. On November 7th, 1992, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Jim Hezel. Together, they built a life of faith and love, raising six children-Sarah, Ally, Dane, James, Madeline, and Mary Kathryn-who were her greatest joy and life's passion.
Kathy received the Rite of Christian Initiation into the Catholic Church in 1992. Kathy loved her Catholic faith deeply and lived it daily through both word and action. She faithfully attended Mass, prayed the Rosary, and joyfully shared her love for God with her children and community. She made hundreds of rosaries for the Sts. Peter and Paul Teen ACTS retreats, was a perfect silent witness for prolife causes, was a board member at Allied Woman's Center, attended bible studies, women's ACTS retreats, and served as a volunteer treasurer for many of her children's organizations. She humbly gave of her time and talents wherever she was needed.
Kathy exemplified St. Mother Teresa's message to "Do small things with great love" by touching people individually in big ways. She was known for her gentle strength and compassion. Kathy gave generously, never seeking recognition-whether volunteering, comforting a friend, or opening her home with warmth and hospitality. She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, steady kindness and boundless love.
She is survived by Jim, her husband of 32 years. They had a deep and abiding love and friendship that was an inspiration to all who knew them. She is also survived by her children Sarah, Ally, Dane, James, Madeline, and Mary Kathryn; one grandbaby (arriving in March, 2026); her brother Randy (Aletha) Wright; her sisters, Sherry Pattillo, Wendy Winfield, and Julie (Ralph) Johnson; her sisters-in-law Debbie (Kenny) Marbach, Mary (Dale) Martin, Diane (Jeff) Kruse, brother-in-law Brad (Kelli) Hezel and 31 nieces & nephews who adored their sweet and gentle "Aunt Kathy", 54 great nieces and nephews and 1 great, great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Linda Wright; her parents-in-law, John and Joann Hezel; and her brother-in-law, Ronnie Winfield.
Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Kathy's life. Visitation and Memorial Rosary will be Tuesday, October 28th at Lux Funeral Home, 1254 N. Business IH 35, New Braunfels, with visitation from 5 – 8 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 386 North Castell, New Braunfels, TX on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews Matt Marbach, Travis Martin, Tyler Martin, Josh Marbach, Chad Kruse, Zach Marbach, Luke Marbach, Kolton Hezel
