Kathryn Lump Obituary

Katey Bell Lump passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, October 17, 2025.

She left this world just as she existed in it every day, radiating love, being sincerely kind, and being classically Katey with her wit and candor.

Katey was so many things wrapped into one beautiful human being. She was an adoring wife to Corey Lump (Hilliard), mother to Griffin Lump, daughter to Diana and Jeffrey Bell (Clintonville), sister to Jennifer and Jeffrey Hart (Clintonville), and Brooke Bell (Washington, D.C), aunt to Joseph Hart, Michael, Gavin, and Emerson Lump and Maddox and Grayson Ashworth—and friend to just about everybody.

Katey spent her early days in Clintonville, attending Immaculate Conception School and Bishop Waterson High School. It’s there where she played travel softball, swam on the Olympic Pool swim team, and developed her passion for helping others working with the Special Olympics. She went on to study at Ohio University, pursuing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In the halls of Ohio University and along Court Street she found her people and fell in love with her husband, Corey Lump.

After graduation, Katey and Corey moved to Columbus to start the next chapter of their lives and careers as Physical Therapists at OhioHealth. In work, Katey connected with many patients and families as a dedicated provider. She went on to become a clinical leader within the department and made lasting friendships with her colleagues.

Katey and Corey were married in Columbus in October of 2022, and enjoyed spending time with their close-knit family, even buying a home in Hilliard to start a family of their own. Despite being raised a ‘’city girl’’, Katey developed a love for the outdoors thanks to Chillicothe-native Corey, routinely taking family hikes with their dogs, Bindi and Chuck. Katey loved country music and never turned down a good concert. She watched football and rooted for the Buckeyes, so long as they weren’t playing the Bobcats.

On March 23, 2024, Katey and Corey welcomed their son, Griffin. Nothing made Katey happier than being a mom to Griffin and raising him with Corey. Griffin was always a bright spot during hard days and provided Katey with a reminder to cherish the small things. Katey loved to watch Griffin play with his cousin, Joey. She always said those times were so special.

Katey could make you laugh with a single word or look. She had style. She had big opinions. She was a personality. She was a hype woman. She was yellow. Katey was brave. She was a fighter. Katey was everything good and we’ll miss and love her forever.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the service being held on Tuesday, October 28th at 1:00 pm at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E N Broadway St. Columbus Ohio 43214. A graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery 3349 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH 43202. After the burial, the family will be having A Celebration of Katey's Life at one of her favorite places, Jackie O's 171 N 4th St, Columbus, OH 43215, around 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to support the Trust of Griffin Lump. Donations can be sent to @teamgriffinsmom on venmo or to Corey Lump, phone number (740) 637-0092 on Zelle. All funds will be placed into the Trust once it becomes available. QR Codes for donations towards the Trust of Griffin Lump are posted at the bottom of this page.

The family would like to extend gratitude for the compassion and care Katey received from the dedicated teams at Columbus Oncology and Hematology Associates at the Dublin Cancer Center, The OSU James Cancer Center MICU and The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center.
