Kathryn Nixon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Kinder on Mar. 28, 2026.
Kathryn "Kat" Nixon, born November 21st, 1934, passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2026, in Kinder, Louisiana at the age of 91.
Kat was a devoted member of Indian Village United Pentecostal Church, where she served faithfully in many roles, including cooking and cleaning. She had a true servant's heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and dedication touched many lives in her church and community.
She loved caring for babies, often keeping them for the pastors and holding and loving all the church babies, which brought her immense joy. She enjoyed reading, working cross word puzzles, and coffee. Every evening at 4:00 p.m. her and family would gather for coffee time. She also enjoyed sewing and making her children's clothing. Kat's gentle nature and warmth were evident to everyone who knew her.
Together with her husband, she spent her days traveling and going to sale barns, always at his side through every adventure. Her devotion and companionship were a testament to their loving partnership.
She is survived by her daughters, LaDonna "Donna" Best, Teri Jo Bushnell and husband Ken, Jeanie Lee Sparks and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Travis Bushnell and wife Lauren, Devin Sparks and wife Lorin, and Kolton Sparks; and great-grandchildren, Makayla, Lexi, Brayden, Kailyn, Colt, and Easton, as well as a host of family and friends.
Kat is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 60 years, Rufus "Boosie" Nixon Jr.; parents, Mansel and Lorena Manuel Langley; son, Steven Nixon; son-in-law, Bob Best; and brother, Norman Langley.
Kat's legacy of love and faith will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. She will be remembered for her compassion, dedication, and unwavering spirit.
Family will receive friends for a visitation Monday March 30th, 2026 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a funeral service at 1:00 pm, at Indian Village United Pentecostal Church, Kinder, Louisiana. Pastor Scott Benoit and Rev. Terry Bushnell will be officiating. Interment will follow at Green Oak Cemetery Kinder, Louisiana.
