Kathryn Wagner (Greene) ObituaryKathryn Greene Wagner, 75, of Waukesha, Wisc., formerly of Niagara, Wisc., passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Oak Hill Terrace in Waukesha.
She was born on October 7, 1949, in Norway, Mich., daughter of the late Donald and Marjorie (Larson) Greene.
Kathryn graduated from Niagara High School in 1968 and majored in English at UW-Eau Claire. After teaching for a year in Menasha, Wisc., she returned to Niagara and taught AP high school English until her retirement in 2004. Many of her students still remember "any, all, some, most, none" and her other grammar tricks.
Kathryn was an avid gardener - her favorites were lilies of the valley, violets, and wild strawberries. She was always encouraging milkweed to grow in her yard to support the bees and butterflies. Her other hobbies included traveling, history (especially Civil War and WWII), reading, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her rescue cats. In her later years, "Grammer/Grandma Kathy" enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sports, concerts, and recitals.
She was an active member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Iron Mountain, where she served in multiple roles, including parish council and St. Mary's Ladies' Group. She supported veterans' advocacy organizations and volunteered at the Almost Home Animal Shelter and Niagara Historical Society.
She is survived by her daughters, Sara (Chris) Londo of Waukesha, Wisc., and Chandra (Sam) Kidd of Celbridge, Ireland, honorary daughter Michelle (Nate) Jurvelin of Franklin, Wisc.; grandchildren Madeleine and Macy Londo, Amelia and Ethan Jurvelin, and granddogs Bowie, Tessa, Jax, and Murphy, and grandcat Pixie. She is further survived by her brother, Gary (Naomi) Greene, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Michelle Mathis and Todd Rochon for all their assistance during Mom's last years in Niagara. We would also like to express our gratitude to Morgan, Maria, Drea, Debbie, Chelsea, Chantal, Kay, Shayla, Cassie, Amtul, Desi, Nisha, Robin, Monica, Jamie, and the other caretakers at Oak Hill Terrace and Allay Hospice for their compassion and support. They treated Mom like family.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at St. Mary's Orthodox Church, 311 West D Street, Iron Mountain, Mich., with Rev. Fr. Mark Hagan officiating. Burial will take place in Niagara Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Almost Home Animal Shelter or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD).
