Kathy W. Baker, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on March 11th, 2024. While Kathy spent most of her life in Illinois, she retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona, embracing the desert sunshine and this new chapter of her life. She was a woman of quiet strength and gentle spirit, deeply loved by her family and friends.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert and Jane Wolfe, Kathy was a devoted sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend. She is survived by her older sister, Mary Hooper (Jerry) and fraternal twin sister, Maureen Loeding (the late Richard). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Baker.
Although she had no children of her own, Kathy poured her heart into being an aunt. She was a constant source of love and support for her niece, Erin Loeding, and her nephews, Bryan, Brett, and Kyle Loeding. Her joy expanded as she welcomed many great-nieces and nephews into the world, creating special memories and showering them with affection. Being an aunt was a role she treasured and excelled at.
Kathy enjoyed both volunteering and traveling with a group of close friends. She was always up for exploring new places and creating lasting memories. Whether it was traveling somewhere new or simply hanging out she had a good time being with those she loved. She found immense joy in even the simple moments spent alongside family and friends.
Kathy's infectious smile and the pure joy she brought to those around her were her hallmarks. If Kathy were here today, she would remind us all not to cry because it's over, but to smile because it happened, because we got to share our time together.
She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by those who knew her.
