Kathy Bennett, age 59, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away suddenly on February 17, 2026. Born on May 6, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, to Richard and Betty Bennett, Kathy was the beloved third of four children, and she carried the love of her close-knit family with her throughout her life.

Kathy dedicated more than thirty years to the art of baking and cake decorating-a career that was not simply a job, but a true passion. She began her journey in 1983 at Hudson's bakery, working alongside her mother. Starting behind the counter as a cashier and making cookies, she quickly discovered her love for baking. Determined and hardworking, she answered a newspaper ad for Sweetheart Bakery, where her talent and commitment allowed her to rise through the ranks to become a skilled cake decorator and pastry chef. She later continued her career with both Sweetheart Bakery and Julian Brothers, where she spent decades perfecting her craft. Kathy especially loved script piping on cakes, a skill she mastered with remarkable precision and artistry. She took immense pride in her work, and her creations brought joy to countless celebrations and families over the years.

Outside of work, Kathy found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed bowling, playing Candy Crush, and most of all, spending time with her family. She had a special love for Looney Tunes, especially Tweety Bird, and proudly collected Warner Brothers memorabilia. Sunflowers also held a special place in her heart-she cherished their bright blooms each spring and summer and surrounded herself with sunflower-themed treasures.

Above all, Kathy often said her proudest achievement in life was raising her two children, Ryan and Samantha. From the moment they were born, they became the center of her universe and remained there every single day of her life. She poured her heart into motherhood, embracing every stage-from school mornings and homework, to late-night talks and heartfelt advice. There was nothing she would not do for them; no sacrifice too great, no distance too far. She was deeply devoted to being an involved, loving, and supportive mother, always showing up, always cheering them on, and always believing in them.

Shopping trips with Ryan to the Warner Brothers store at the former Lakeside Mall were more than just errands-they were special traditions filled with laughter, shared jokes, and inside humor only they understood. Outings with Samantha to Kohl's were equally cherished. These were moments filled with conversation, bonding, and that simple joy of being side by side. Yet what mattered most to Kathy was never the destination; it was her time together with Ryan and Samantha. Whether it was a quick drive, a quiet evening at home, or a long conversation about life, she valued every second spent in their presence. She was endlessly giving, patient, and understanding. Her children always knew they had a safe place with her-a listening ear, a comforting hug, and unwavering support. She did not just love her children; she devoted her all to them. She was, in every sense, the definition of the world's best mom.

Kathy's love extended wholeheartedly to her cherished pets. She treated them, not merely as animals, but as beloved members of the family. Her German Shepherd, Sheldon, was her constant companion, and her best friend in the truest sense. Their fourteen years together were filled with loyalty, comfort, and unconditional love. Sheldon was her baby-her everything-and she spoke of him with the same warmth and pride she carried for her children. His passing just months before hers left an ache in her heart that never quite healed. She missed him deeply, holding tightly to the countless memories they created together.

Her cats-the late CJ, Sage, Dracula, and Rocket-were equally adored and pampered. Each had their own personality, and Kathy loved them for exactly who they were. Rocket, however, held a particularly special place in her heart and enjoyed just a little extra attention. Kathy's compassion for animals was boundless. She ensured they were cared for with tenderness, grace, and patience, always putting their needs first. She believed animals gave pure, unconditional love, and she returned it tenfold.

Family meant everything to Kathy, and she nurtured those relationships with intention and care. She made it a priority to stay connected, often picking up the phone just to check in, hear a familiar voice, or offer a few words of encouragement, even if accompanied by a sarcastic attitude. Those calls were her way of reminding her loved ones that they mattered. She cherished every opportunity to gather together. Family vacations to Florida were especially meaningful to her, not because of the destination itself, but because they meant everyone was together in one place, sharing laughter and making memories. She loved every second of it, and she loved her family dearly.

Kathy was the steady presence her family could always count on. She was dependable, reliable, and unwavering in her loyalty. When someone needed help, she was there. When someone needed advice, she listened. When someone needed comfort, she gave it freely. Her love for her family was fierce, constant, and unconditional-a bond that will continue to live in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Kathy will be remembered for her sharp wit and unforgettable sense of humor. She had a way of making people laugh effortlessly. Her sarcasm was legendary-often delivered with a tone so charming and playful that it only added to her warmth. She brought light, laughter, and sweetness into the lives of everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her children; Ryan Bennett, and Samantha (Richie) Bennett; and her siblings, Karen (Richard) Antonelli, Keith Bennett, and Kirk Bennett. Preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty Bennett.

Kathy's legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
