Kathy Bates Casstevens

Ms. Kathy Mae Bates Casstevens, 72, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025. She was born February 4, 1953 in Surry County to Allen and Jean Holbrook Bates. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Bates; grandparents, Everette and Della Holbrook, and Fletcher and Lillie Bates. Ms. Casstevens enjoyed gardening and sewing. In addition to her mother, Jean Bates, she is survived by her children, Emory (Kristy) Casstevens, Nicholas “Nick” Casstevens, Heather (Brian) Howard; grandchildren, Kassey Casstevens, Wyatt Casstevens, Brynlee Casstevens, Carson Casstevens, Emma Howard; great-grandchild, Wendi Casstevens; her brother, David (Ann) Bates; and her sister Jo Anne Bates. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Link officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for the loving care given to Kathy and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice of Yadkin County, 243 N. Lee Ave. Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Casstevens family.
