Kathy Purnell Fraley

Kathy Purnell Fraley, 72, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at her home.

She was born on August 30, 1952 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Earnest and Dorothy Waddell Purnell.

Kathy was retired from the Rowan County Board of Education and was a member of the Haldeman Church of God.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and attending church and church activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Fraley who passed away in 2010, one grandson, Brady Fraley and one brother, Ray Purnell. 

Survivors include her husband, Larry Fraley, one son, Randy Fraley (Amy) of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, one daughter, Carla Terry (Chris) of Morehead, four brothers, Jay Purnell, Bob Purnell (Wilma Jean) and Rick Purnell (Charlene) all of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Ernie Lee Purnell (Kathleen) of Morehead, two sisters, Trella Easterling of Olive Hill and Lesa Hopson (Doug) of Morehead, two grandchildren, Brett Fraley (Taylor) and Larra Estep, three great-grandchildren, Alayna, Kimber and Anslee, special sister-in-law, Sandy Fraley Parmley of Ashland, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Ron Clatos and Jack Pennington officiating.

Burial will follow in the Earn Purnell Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Fraley, Brett Fraley, Bob Purnell, Chris Purnell, Scotty Purnell, Earnest “Tott” Purnell and Jeremy Purnell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Purnell, Ernie Purnell and Rick Purnell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Haldeman Church of God, 280 Erwin Road, Morehead, Kentucky  40351.
