Kathy Gilbert, born on October 27, 1972, in Knoxville, TN, passed away on December 23, 2024, in her beloved hometown. Kathy was a devoted single mother to her daughter, Ciara Trent, who was the light of her life. Known for her nurturing spirit and caring nature, Kathy never missed a school event for Ciara and always ensured that birthdays were celebrated with abundant love and enthusiasm.
Kathy loved cooking and was often found preparing meals for family and friends, sharing her passion and warmth through food. Her favorite place in the world was the beach, where she found peace and joy. Kathy, a second mom to many, was always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. Her friends and family knew her as someone who would give the shirt off her back to help others.
She is survived by her mother, Sandra DeFord, and her brother, Earl Gilbert III. Kathy leaves behind a cherished circle of loved ones, including Jamie Trent, Tiffany Gilbert, Kelsey Gilbert, Amber Gilbert, Earl Gilbert IV, and Preston Mingie, as well as her late father, Earl Gilbert Jr., who is now in heaven.
Kathy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering support impacted the lives of everyone around her. Kathy was a Christian; she embodied love and compassion in all she did. Koda and Bella, her beloved pets, were also a big part of her life, bringing her comfort and companionship. Kathy Gilbert will be remembered for her amazing spirit, her love for her family, and her superpower of being an incredible mother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 6:30pm – 7:30pm at Son Light Baptist Church (6494 Son Light Way, Knoxville, TN 37918) with a memorial service starting at 7:30pm.
