Kathy Lynn (Hartzburg) Klassen, age 74, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at Steven’s County Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 29, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Track Bar and Grill in Benson, MN.
Kathy was born December 22, 1951 to Robert and Doris (Page) Hartzburg in Vincennes, Indiana. The family moved to Willmar, MN in 1967 and Kathy graduated with the Willmar Class of 1969. She attended Willmar Vocational Technical Institute, obtaining an AA degree in Accounting.
Kathy was married to Dale Klassen on December 26, 1970 in Watertown, South Dakota. To this union seven children were born. They made their home in Murdock and DeGraff, MN. In 2025, Kathy moved to Morris to be closer to family. Kathy worked as a bookkeeper for Midwest Cylinder in Swift Falls and with her husband Dale at Klassen Repair and Welding until his death in 2015. She also worked for Lakes Area Cleaning Services.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed singing, and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events; dance, 4-H, school programs, and other milestone events. Halloween was always Kathy’s highlighted event of the year.
Kathy is survived by her children Serena (Wayne) Vergin of Benson, Robert “BJ” (Nathalie) Klassen of Kensington, Jonathon (Jenny) Klassen of Glenwood, Mark Klassen of Benson, Lori (Larry) Klassen of Worthington; grandchildren Megan (AJ), Olivia (AJ) and Devin (Alyssa) Vergin, Tyler, Andrew and Chase Klassen, and Sydney and Dylann Klassen; great grandchildren Lennox and Maverick.
She is also survived by brother Tony Hartzburg and sisters Karen Schneider and Kelly (Brian) Burgdorf, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Dale, daughters Mary Beth and Angela, parents Robert and Doris, parent-in-laws John and Adeline Klassen, sister Shelley Vigassa, and sister-in-law Bev Hartzburg.
