Kathy Layne

Katherine "Kathy" Layne, 86, of Hixson, TN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn David Layne, parents, Warren and Laura Penny Davidson and siblings, Reba Thompson, Jewel Mayhan and Doug Davidson.
She was born September 22, 1939 and was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School where she was an all around athelete playing basketball, volleyball and softball. Even later in life she stayed active riding her bicycle, bowling, playing tennis, jazzercise and other activities.
She married Glenn David Layne on December 31, 1961 and together they welcomed two children, Pamela Kaye Layne in 1963 and Gregory David Layne in 1966. She loved her children and as a very loving and caring mother.
Her daughter Pamela Kaye Layne-Templeton and her husband, Jody Templeton and her son, Gregory David Layne and his wife, Robin Layne were truly joys in her life. Blessed with 6 grandchildren; Brad Burton, Cassie Smith, Lacee De'Grouchy, Grayson Layne, Garrett Layne and Hallie Layne Day and cherished with 6 great-grandchildren; Layna Smith, Hunter Burton, Lynn Smith, Easton Burton, Delphine Ineck and Tatum Day. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much and was proud of each one of them. Everytime they came to visit brought the biggest smile to her face.
She has many life-long friends through the years, but one special friend, Roberta Henderson was extremely close to her. They met as teenagers and stayed friends to the very end! Kathy looked forward to her visits each week where they shared memories about old times.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Sharpe officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
