Kathy Phelps Obituary

Kathy Lynn Phelps, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away in Carteret County. Born on January 18, 1960, in Chowan County, Kathy touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Kathy dedicated much of her professional life to the Roberts Company at PCS, now known as Nutrien, where she worked diligently until 2008. Her colleagues remember her as a committed and compassionate team member.

Beyond her professional life, Kathy found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a profound love for animals, cherishing the companionship they provided. Kathy's heart was full when she spent time with her grandchildren, whom she adored immensely. Her home was often filled with a variety of music, reflecting her eclectic taste and love for melody.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Phelps; mother, Violet Ambrose Woodley; brother, Chuck Phelps; sisters, Linda Phelps and Jackie Smith; and grandson, Zayn.

She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughters, Heather Hendershot and husband Kevin of Winston Salem, NC, and Jessica Dyson and fiancé Terry of New Bern, NC; her sister, Betty Makua and husband Malcolm of Washington, NC; and her cherished grandchildren, Maeson, Nuryn, Aleigha, Harper, Grayson, Kayden, Paisley, and Rylee.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathy's life at a memorial service on Saturday, February 28, from 5-7pm at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service. Kathy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for her family, and her unwavering kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to assist the Phelps family.
