Kathleen Ann Reed age 68, of Oldham, Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 26, 2023 at St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Arlington, SD. A luncheon will follow the service. A Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM on Monday at the church. Inurnment will be in the Oldham Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Johnson-Henry Funeral Home Of Arlington, Lake Preston, Oldham. Kathy A. Reed, 68, went to her Heavenly home and Savior on June 19th, 2023 at her home in Oldham. Kathy's family is inviting all guests to incorporate their favorite shade of purple into their attire if they choose.
She was born March 19, 1955 in Anchorage, Alaska the daughter of Herbert (Susan) Brown as the second of six children. Growing up as an Air Force dependent, she lived in Alaska, Nebraska, England, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Colorado. She and her family moved to Oldham in 1979.
Kathy had exceptionally good "people skills" and worked as head supervisor for 26 years at the Arlington Sewing Factory for Milaca Mills, Bob Allen, Boy Harness, and Miller Bag. Following the closure of the Arlington Sewing Factory in 2004, she began work at Daktronics (Brookings) where she worked as a facilities supervisor until her retirement in 2019.
Kathy enjoyed bird watching, caring for lost or injured animals, gardening, occasional fishing, watching Marvel movies, going on adventures with her mom, kids, and grandkids.
So grateful for having shared her life are her two children: Jason (Elizabeth) Reed of Divide, CO and Sarah (Dustin) Trump-Reed of Portland, Oregon, her 5 grandchildren, her mother and dear friend Susan Brown, her five loving and supportive brothers Lew, Matt, Marc, Herbie, Shane, five amazing sister in laws, her nieces and nephews and so many wonderful friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father Herbert Brown in 2006, her late husband Jr Reed in 2003, and her grandson Jade River Jenison in 2008.
