Kathleen “Kathy” Schofield, age 74, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a short stay at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following complications after surgery. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

She was born February 28, 1951, to Tad R. Schofield and Joyce Sophie Neibaur Schofield in St. Anthony, Idaho. The family were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She grew up on her parents’ farm in the Moody Creek area east of Rexburg, near Teton City, Idaho. In 1964, the family moved to Paul, Idaho. There she attended and graduated from Minico High School near Rupert in 1969, making several lifelong friends.

After high school, Kathy attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she obtained secretarial and administrative training from several area institutions. She lived and worked in Salt Lake City for several years, adding more lifelong relationship, contributing a little spice and sass along the way, as noted by some friends.

In the early 1980s, Kathy relocated to Idaho Falls and continued her professional career at Chesbro Music Company, where she worked from 1983 to retirement in 2022. She served in the Finance Department as Accounts Receivables lead, developing contacts throughout the Western United States. She was a great collector of receivables--and of friends. She loved Chesbro Music, and her friends there.

Kathy met and married Richard (“Dick”) Ingle in 1983, becoming a mother to his three children: Steve (Susan), Lisa (John Neimrow), and Kimie. Although they divorced after several years , Kathy continued to treasure and support the family she gained during that time.

Kathy leaves a legacy of loving friends and extended family with whom she shared many favorite activities: traveling, attending concerts, movies and musicals, and discovering new restaurants. She seldom missed the opportunity to gather--family reunions, births, baptisms, weddings, parties, deaths. Any excuse to join together. We’ll miss that spice and sass.

She is survived by her siblings, Mike (Rita), Dan, LaReen Pierce, John (Betty) all of Idaho Falls, and Janet (Gordon) Mills of Burley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tad and Joyce, her nephew Nathan Schofield; and her great-nephew, Tegan Rees.

Kathy would want to acknowledge her ties to her extended 1st cousins who number about 36 on the Schofield side and about 50 on the Neibaur side.

Our family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all who have reached out with compassion, prayers, and support. Any small contributions made in Kathleen’s memory to assist with funeral and final expenses are sincerely appreciated.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The Family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Inurnment will follow at Fielding Memorial Park cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life and light lunch, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at The Brickyard Reception Center, located next to Wood Funeral East.
