It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathy Ganues Sims, a beloved wife, sister, and friend, who died on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on October 10, 1953, Kathy lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion, touching the hearts of those around her. She was the daughter of the late LC and Ruth Ganues.
Kathy worked as a prep cook at A Taste of Cindy's Kitchen. She was known not only for her skill in the kitchen but also for her warm spirit and infectious laugh. A fun-loving person, Kathy was often found enjoying the tranquil pleasures of fishing or expressing her thoughts and feelings through her beautiful poetry.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Ricky Sims; her brother, Jack Ganues; and her sisters, Glenda Lindsey, Phyllis Cook, Vicky Robinson, and Shirley Ganues; her sisters-in-law, Cynthia Simmons and Delores Birdsong. There are also nieces and nephews who survive. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Tony Tindle, her brothers, John Ganues and Lowell Suits, and her sister, Carolyn Wallace.
Funeral services for Kathy will be held at Sweet Home Baptist Church on Friday, February 20, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Jeffrey R. Wimbush officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Church Cemetery.
Kathy's memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will remain forever in our hearts.
