Kathy Annette Vieregge, 74, passed away November 11, 2023 in Malakoff. Kathy was born July 14, 1949 to Lewis and Loretta Vieregge in Athens and was a lifelong resident of Malakoff. She was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, which required two majors surgeries by the time she was six-years-old. She attended Malakoff Elementary for a brief period of time. Kathy was passionate about learning. She loved to read the Bible, as well as encyclopedias and books about historical events. Kathy volunteered at the Malakoff Public Library and received the Texas Library Service Award in June 1993.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Loretta Vieregge and brother David Vieregge.
She is survived by her sister Carolyn & husband Jerry; brother Rick & wife Debbie; nephews Justin Vieregge, Josh Vieregge & wife Kelsey, Jarrod Land & wife Courtney; niece Jennifer & husband Bobby Little; great nephews & niece Knox, Camden & Jamison Vieregge, Clayton Land, Paxton & Paisley Little.
Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home will conduct a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November, 15, 2023, at Malakoff Cemetery, with Bro. Casey Perry officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the Malakoff Public Library or American Heart Association.
