Kenneth Vieregge Obituary

Kenneth Louis Vieregge, 88, passed away on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1936, to Louis and Emma (Wenzlaff) Vieregge in St. Joseph. Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Judith (Moore) on June 15, 1957.

Kenneth attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1954. Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force in El Paso, Texas, from 1954-1957. In 1957, he returned to St. Joseph and in 1960, he started his service station business. In 1976, he sold his station and went to work as a mechanic for the Michigan Department of Transportation. When he retired from MDOT, he worked for Aid Association for Lutherans, helping people as an insurance advisor. He served his church as groundskeeper, choir member, Elder, and youth group leader. Kenneth also enjoyed meeting "the guys" for coffee every morning.

Visitation with Kenneth's family will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., with visiting time one hour prior to the service at church. Christian burial will take place following the services in Riverview Cemetery. For a more lasting memory, donations in Kenneth's name can be made out to Christ Lutheran Church. Feel free to share a memory with the family on their online memory wall at www.starksfamilyfh.com.

Mr. Vieregge was always ready with a smile, as I would deliver the newspapers to their house. They were always part of our extended family and such warm and gracious people. We will all miss you ! Rest in Peace in Gods glory, friend.

Paul and I grieve today with family and friends-Mr. Vieregge was a humble man who will be sorely missed.

We have traveled many times from Ann Arbor to the Vieregge´s for special events where Paul played his trumpet with Keith and we shared meals with the family.

I´ll always remember his BOOMING voice when he started the common table prayer...COME Lord Jesus be our guest and let these gifts to us be blessed, AMEN !

We love being part of this family!
