Kathy Cook Williams, 70, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away in the loving presence of her children on March 4, 2025, at Marianna Health and Rehab Center.
Kathy was born on July 15, 1954, to the late George Elton and Emmare Sullivan Cook. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, of Grand Ridge. Kathy is survived by her children, Zeke Williams and Rhianna Williams Dowling (Don). Also surviving are her beloved grandsons: Don Young Dowling, Tucker Dowling, and Ben Williams. In addition, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Tony Williams, and her sister-in-law, Gayle Williams Westbrook (Jamey). Kathy was a faithful member of Salem Wesleyan Church for many years, she also counted the members of the congregation as family. She leaves behind numerous relatives, cousins, and friends whom she dearly loved.
Kathy was an excellent student who attended Grand Ridge High School, Chipola Junior College and then Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She practiced nursing at Jackson Hospital for as long as she was able. She took great pride in her profession and was highly regarded within it. Sharing her professional knowledge and expertise enabled her to help many people as they entered the nursing profession or cared for their families.
As a young bride, she moved to the Williams Farm, north of Grand Ridge, where she was involved in the family’s daily operations. She devoted herself to others as a good and caring neighbor, always ready to encourage, help or serve. Determined and somewhat adventurous, she was not deterred by a challenge. One of her most endearing traits was her ability to make others comfortable in her presence by simply being herself. Intelligent and well-read, Kathy loved nothing better than a discussion in which she could exchange ideas with others. She loved her family and had her own set of pronounced opinions; yet, she embraced those with differing views. With a ready sense of humor, she could be counted upon for a good laugh even at her own expense. A woman of strong faith, she never hesitated to offer spiritual insight for the sake of others. Her reminders of “faith as of a mustard seed” and “His grace is sufficient” were often the reply when a friend or relative sought her counsel. She found peace in her salvation and earnestly tried to live her testimony each day.
A time of visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Friday, March 7, 2025 at Salem Wesleyan Church followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with Pastors Rafael Bellinni and Gary Gable officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
