Katie Jo Hesson passed away on May 11, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1984, in Avon Township, Michigan to Ricky Lane Hesson and Gale Lee Marcus. Throughout her life she was able to receive her Bachelor’s degree and meet and marry the love of her life, Bryan Garza.

Katie was a proud and loving mother who centered herself around her family. She believed in having Friday Family Dinner Nights where everyone would enjoy hamburgers and watch a new movie of the week to allow for laughter and tradition to carry on. Katie’s love for video games was something that will always be remembered as this is how she was able to connect to her forever partner and create joyous ever long memories together. When she was not playing video games, her talents were shared through home filled music on the piano that echoed throughout the house and rooms and became a voracious reader about stories that enriched her soul and sparked her imagination, eventually leading to her gamertag “Dagny” from Atlas Shrugged. Katie was the light in every room she entered and the rock that every relationship needed. Her kindness, humor, and unshakable spirit were gifts to anyone who had the honor to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bryan Garza, of Anton, Texas and son, Jackson Hesson.

Katie's family will honor her wish to be cremated.
