Katie Ann Johnson Mauch, 68, of El Campo, passed away January 20, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1955 in Victoria to the late Carl and Lucy Ricks Johnson. She received her Associate of Applied Science in Office Education at Wharton County Junior College and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Houston at Victoria. Katie was a bookkeeper at Griffin Well Service and for Wilson Rutherford. She taught at El Campo Middle School and El Campo High School from 1991-2001. Katie was an avid quilter and gardener. She enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing and hummingbirds. Her calling was sewing memory teddy bears and pillows. Katie was a Jane of all trades, strong willed and always tried to be involved with her grandkids. She was active in altar guild, quilting with Christ Lutheran Church ladies and served on many committees.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 45 years, Herman Clyde Mauch Jr. of El Campo; son, Neil Dippel and wife Donna of El Campo and their children, Kristina Lee and husband Zach and Johnathon Dippel and girlfriend Emily; son, Herman Clyde Mauch III and wife Jennifer of El Campo and their children, Jerry, Jasmine and Kameron; brother, Michael Johnson of El Campo; sister, Ellen Bubela and husband Randy of Boca Chica and nieces and nephews that she treated like her own children.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Jones and sister-in-law, Diane Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 26 at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 27 at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Clement officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Bubela, Tim Autry, Zach Lee, Johnathon Dippel, Shane Denfip and Cat Aranda.
Memorial donations in memory of Katie may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
