Katie Newlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory - Rushville on Dec. 19, 2024.
Katie May Newlin, born on March 5, 1967, in Rushville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 57 years old.
Katie was the beloved daughter of Charles and Beverly Palmer and spent her childhood in Manila, where she attended Rushville Consolidated High School. On August 18, 1991, she married Mark Newlin, and together they built a life filled with love and family. In 2005, Katie and Mark made their home in Shelbyville, Indiana.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Katie is survived by her two sons: Bobby Palmer of Rushville and Morton Palmer (Brittany) of Shelbyville. She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Faith Palmer, Gaige Palmer, and Luke Palmer. Katie also shared a close bond with her siblings: Ollie Palmer of Manila, Fred Palmer of Manila, Mary Palmer (Jack) of Shelbyville, and Keith Palmer of Manila.
Katie worked for many years at the Heritage House in Shelbyville, where she formed a special friendship with her boss, Melissa Richardson. She cherished her time there until her diagnosis with kidney disease in 2018. Despite the challenges of her illness, Katie faced life with resilience and found happiness in spending time with her grandchildren and great-niece. She especially loved taking them to parks and creating lasting memories. Katie also enjoyed staying connected with loved ones through long phone conversations that brought comfort and joy to those she held dear.
Katie was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Palmer. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Katie will be cremated at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring to honor her legacy and the love she shared with those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
