Mrs. Sankey was one of the First Ladies at St. John Baptist Church in Pratt City. I was a very young lady listening to her sing raised chills on my arms. Her voice made you pay attention to this day YouTube videos of her I still get chills. She was a wonderful loving person. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I grew up as a child living up the street from Mrs. Sankey and her husband Pastor William J. Sankey. To Charlie and William Jr may God continue to be your strength in time of your bereavement. You guys were loving sons and took care of your mom. I am sending my heartfelt condolences to you all. May your mom rest in peace and her music will continue to live on. Love you all

"I don´t know why Lord, I have to cry sometimes, I don´t know why Lord I stand in need sometimes, but oh it´s going to be a perfect day, trouble get out of my way...I don´t know why, but I´ll find out!" I grew up to this song and when my grandmother passed away this was the main selection at her viewing. Listening to the song as young as I was gave me a connection that met me in life uncertainties & disappointments....bittersweet! Because, I knew I could trust God to make everything alright anyhow. I want to give respect to Mrs. Katie Sankey, may her soul rest & have sweet sleep in His care. Thank you for your music I frequent visit you tube to play your songs & had recently found hashtag on TikTok of your grandkids singing your songs. Prayers of comfort, strength, & encouragement for her entire family. God bless you all.

We were saddened with the passing of Katie. She was my aunt and my friend. She would listen to me read as a little girl. She said she was my first kindergarten teacher. I love to hear her sing. She was influential to my husband as his Pastor´s wife.Always the same. We will miss her but her singing will be heard again and again. Love you Katie.

The cassette clicks softly in the player, the hiss of tape giving way to that rich, soul-soothing voice-Mrs. Katie B. Sankey's hymns wrapping around the barracks like a quilt stitched from heaven. Somewhere between Parris Island's grit and the ache of homesick nights, her melodies were my mercy. To have my words carry the weight of a thousand "Amens." To love Mrs. Katie B. SANKEY was to know the very pulse of comfort, the kind that turns lonely corners into altars. And now, to love her family? That's just the gospel doing what it does best-binding hearts across decades, across losses, across Marine Corps bunks and cassette tapes worn thin from prayer. What a testimony: that a voice could be both shelter and compass. What a grace: that her songs still echo in the lives they steadied. Hold tight to that legacy-it's holy ground. And know this, too: somewhere, a young Marine is still humming her tunes, still finding their way home. With all the love a heart can hold, Love, Hugs, and Blessings Doris E. TAYLOR FAIRLEY & Family

To the Sankey family. I know you all do not know me, but my wife Annie L. Manuel and Mrs. Katie B. Sankey were room mates in Mary Gran Nursing Center when Mrs. Sankey was in Clinton, North Carolina.
We are very sorry to hear of her passing. As you know, our Heavenly Father does not make mistakes. Look to him for your health and strength and he will see you through this trying time.
