David Sankey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on Feb. 18, 2026.
David "Dave" Gregory Sankey, of Koeltztown, MO, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026 at the age of 56.

He was born on September 27, 1969, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to the late Gregory Otto Sankey, Jr. and Margaret Clara (Falter) Sankey. On April 30, 1994, he was united in marriage to Karen Lynn Wieberg at Little Flock Baptist Church in Vienna, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Sankey, and his brother, Keith Sankey.

David graduated from Fatima High School in 1987. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1987 – 1990. He was also a past board member of the St. Boniface Cemetery Board.

Dave was a lifelong farmer who also owned and operated KD Enterprise and Sankey Trucking, dedicating many years to hard work and serving his community. For the past 11 years, he was employed with DeLong's, Inc., out of Jefferson City, where he continued to put his strong work ethic and mechanical knowledge to good use.

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting, and there was nothing he loved more than dancing with Karen or gathering around a bonfire with family and friends. He was known for being a little stubborn at times, but he also knew how to have a good time and never missed a chance to pester someone, especially those he loved most. A loyal friend and a man always willing to lend a helping hand, he could fix just about anything. Dave was a talented fish and chicken fryer, an excellent barbecue cook, and a natural storyteller. Most recently, he found joy in baking fresh bread and making pies for those he cared about. Above all else, Dave cherished his family and the time they shared together.

Dave will be greatly missed by his loving family, which includes his two stepsons, Johnny Stein of California and Paul Wieberg of Columbia, Missouri; his two stepdaughters, Lynne Brandt of Vienna, Missouri, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Watring and her husband, Greg, of Argyle, Missouri; his brother, Glenn Sankey and wife Christy of Koeltztown, Missouri; his sister, Carol Jones and husband Larry of Koeltztown, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Cara Nilges of Koeltztown, Missouri; his eight cherished step-grandchildren, Ethan Brandt, Clayton Brandt, Delaney Brandt, Hanna Huhn, Dylan Huhn, Mason Huhn, Milla Stein, and Niccola Stein; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for David G. Sankey will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Boniface Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
