Katie Zdenahlik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Laingsburg Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
Katie Zdenahlik (Forrest) was born July 2, 1934. The daughter of Albert and Lizzie Forrest during the depression. Katie loved being the little sister to Doris, Lena, Liz and together they welcomed their baby brother Al. Their bond was strong their whole life and, in their end, Katie was an important caregiver for each of them.

Katie had three children at a very young age: Duane, David and Debbie. Often working two jobs to make ends meet. Katie met and married Frank Zdenahlik, a widowed man from the big city of Chicago. Together they built a home and raised their family in Buchanan, Michigan. Making several trips back home to Laingsburg visiting Katie's parents, sisters, brother and all of their families.

Katie and Frank retired early and moved to Ruskin, Florida purchasing a modular home in a retirement park. They welcomed Doris, Lena, Liz and Al along with their families building a community of family and friends. Katie loved playing Bingo, watching sports, having family visit, shopping, eating desserts and most importantly driving her car, she loved "being on the go" just like her mother Lizzie!

Katie is survived by her three children, their spouses, former daughter in law, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews and a host of friends from Grange Acers, Bridgeway Park and her beloved hairdresser from Changes.

Katie was a member and attended University United Methodist Church in East Lansing with her nephew Steve and Kathy Forrest and their family. We know Katie is in heaven waiting to dance with Frank, Doris, Lena, Liz, Al and the other loved ones who went before her. Each of them enjoying a favorite "beverage" piece of pie, a cookie or two in no particular order!

Graveside services will take place at a later date.

Donations are suggested to Haslett Food Bank in memory of Katie. Located at 1427 Haslett Road, Haslett, MI. 48840. P.O. Box 217

The family is being served by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Laingsburg, Michigan. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com
