Kay D. Broeske, age 83, of Abbotsford, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Reverend James Groleau will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Kay was born on February 5, 1942, the daughter of Howard and Jeanette Bobbe. Kay attended Abbotsford Public Schools from Kindergarten through her Junior year of high school. Then in 1959, her family moved north to Medford. Kay then graduated high school from Medford High School in 1960 and later attended cosmetology school in Wausau, Wisconsin. On January 26, 1963, Kay was united in marriage to Marvin Broeske in Medford. They raised four children in Abbotsford and had been married for 62 years until Marvin preceded her in death on February 21, 2024.
Kay enjoyed all facets of being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known to have a green thumb nurturing indoor plants and always had a wide variety of flower beds outside. As a longtime special education para-educator in Abbotsford School District, she met every child with patience, dignity and unconditional encouragement. She believed every child deserved to feel capable, valued, and seen. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that her work, her love, and her spirit will continue to echo in every life she touched.
Kay is survived by her four children: Jill (Steve) Weiler of Marshfield, Patrick (Nellie) Broeske of Brownsville, Robyn (Paul) Schueller of Stratford, and Allyson Broeske of Stratford; nine grandchildren: Jena (Ryan) Moertel, Hailey (Nicholas) Bolen, Trent Weiler, Bennett Broeske, Alivia Broeske, Jacob Broeske, Kamryn Schueller, Braeden Schueller, Kalyn Schueller, and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Moertel. She is further survived by her two brothers; Lester (Marlene) Bobbe, and Larry Bobbe, and her sister Linda Boxrucker, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Following the service the family will be hosting a gathering to celebrate Kay's life, tell a few stories, have a few drinks, and enjoy a nice dinner. Please join the family at Jack's Cantina Bar & Grill, 503 E. Spruce St., Abbotsford.
