Kay H. (Dick) Hegle passed away peacefully at Perham Living in Perham, MN, on March 19, 2024.

Kay was born on March 12, 1940, to Walter and Dora (Hanna) Dick in Fargo, ND. She was raised on the family farm near Lisbon, ND, and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1958. She then attended college and lived and worked in Fargo for about a year and a half, during which time friends from back home brought Roger Hegle along on one visit with her in Fargo, an introduction that led to a 60-year marriage.   Kay married Roger Hegle on September 4, 1960, in Lisbon.

Rog and Kay lived in Gwinner, ND, for 33 years, enjoying weekends at West McDonald Lake near Dent, MN, for several years before purchasing Wildwood Beach Store on the lake, which they owned and operated for 13 years. They then retired to a year-round home on West McDonald and later moved into Perham.

Kay enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, baking and cooking. She was active in their church, in both communities they called home. She helped keep the kitchen running smoothly at Perham’s Crosspoint Alliance Church for 19 years and had previously made the floors (and everything else) sparkle as custodian at G.A. Lutheran Church in Gwinner.

Kay is survived by her son, Doug (Dawn) Hegle and daughter, Penny (Larry) Meyers, both of Dent; four grandchildren: Lynea, Aaron, Shaun, and Jamie; and four great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; twin brother, Keith Dick; brother Gary Dick; and her parents.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Weimann Community Cemetery near Vergas, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Crosspoint Alliance Church of Perham, MN; Perham Health Foundation Perham Living Fund; or the hospice of your choice.
