Kay June Rollins, age 79, of
Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Heisinger Bluffs Senior Living Community, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 3, 1945, in Bland, Mo., one of 14 children born to the late Floyd Madison and Laura (Jett) Farris. On April 8, 1973, Kay was united in marriage to Darrell Leroy Rollins in Bland. The two shared nearly 40 years of marriage before his passing on December 15, 2012.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, Kay attended Bland High School and graduated in 1963. Soon after graduating, she began her career working for Chesebrough Ponds (now Unilever), finding her specialty working with lotions and beauty products. She dedicated 33 years to the company before retiring. She then went to work for Wal-Mart for nearly 20 years where her bright smile and joyful nature blessed shoppers and coworkers alike.
A woman of fierce faith, Kay was a longtime member of First Assembly of God before joining Solid Rock Church. She remained faithful throughout her life and looked forward to spending time reading her Bible, yearning to grow continuously in her faith. Kay enjoyed listening to traditional hymns, favoring those sung by Jimmy Swaggart and The Gaithers. She was a prayer warrior who believed God was the most important for her and her family. Kay truly personified Jesus and His love.
Sweet hearted, kind, and loving, Kay deeply cared for the people in her life. She was a natural caregiver to her family, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. She had a contagious smile and joyful nature that people often commented on. Lovingly known as "Mama Kay" to all who knew her, she offered her time, resources, and encouraging words to all, never expecting anything in return. Always seeing the good in people, Kay believed that God had a plan and purpose for everyone.
Her vibrant nature paired well with her love of bright colors and beautiful flowers. Kay found pleasure in gardening, tending to a variety of vegetables and herbs in her raised beds. She tapped into her creative side and enjoyed coloring, stamp and card making, and crossword puzzles, often with a good cup of coffee in hand.
Along with her faith, family was another strong pillar of Kay's life. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, Kale and Cooper. She was blessed to be part of their daily lives from the time they were born; they were her light and joy. Kay will be remembered for her sweet and joyful nature, giving heart, and unshakeable faith. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
She is survived by her two children, Shelly Lynn (Rollins) Kaplan (Mike) of New Bloomfield, Mo., and John Mark Rollins (Julie) of
Jefferson City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kale Andrew Rollins and Cooper Zane Rollins; sisters, Dorothy Hart and Sandra Cooper; brothers, Thurman Farris, Floyd Farris "Junior," Earl Farris, and Madison Farris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and members of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell; parents, Floyd and Laura; sisters, Margie Mason, Darlene Earl, Gloria Cook, Ida Joanne Lingard, and Ruth Ann Farris; and brothers, Harvey Farris and Ricky Lee Farris.
