Myrtle Marie Garner, 97, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on March 11, 2026.

She was born on January 15, 1929, in McDowell, Missouri, to Earl and Arah Starnes. Myrtle grew up in southeast Missouri and carried with her the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family throughout her life. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and loved Jesus with all her heart.

Myrtle was united in marriage to William “Bill” Garner, and the two shared 61 loving years together until his passing in 2011. Their marriage was a lasting example of dedication, partnership, and love.

Throughout her working years, Myrtle served as the head cook in the local school system. She took great pride in feeding generations of students, and many remembered her not only for her meals but also for her warm smile and caring presence.

Myrtle is survived by her grand daughter Jessica Garner; sisters Connie Fintell, Georgia Vickers, and Lena Frazier; and many friends.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Bill, and son Robbie Garner.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Selmore Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri.
