Kay Ennis Seeger passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was 78 years old.

Kay was born Evelyn Kay Ennis on September 26, 1947 at James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Kay grew up on the family farm in Castle Hayne, NC. She married David Seeger on November 24, 1968 and made their home in Wilmington. Kay and David raised their 2 daughters and resided in Wilmington until 1992 when they moved to Murphy, NC for a brief 4 years. In 1996, they returned to Castle Hayne and built a home on the Ennis family land to be close to her parents.

After graduating from New Hanover High School, Kay attended Miller-Motte Business College and worked in an office setting for a time before starting her family. She stayed home to raise her children until 1985 when she attended Cape Fear Community College and graduated with an associate's degree in paralegal studies. She spent the rest of her career working in law offices in both Wilmington and Murphy. After retiring from working as a paralegal, Kay spent much of her time caring for her elderly parents, writing, entertaining, decorating and actively participating in various roles at Wrightsboro Baptist Church. Kay loved writing. She wrote short stories, tributes and 2 books detailing the history of Wrightsboro Baptist Church. Being a perfectionist, Kay enrolled at UNCW in creative writing classes to enhance her work. Kay was well known by friends and family as being an excellent cook, a talented decorator and an impeccable entertainer. She also loved collecting and restoring antiques, playing bridge, travelling and shopping. Although Kay enjoyed her hobbies, nothing meant more to her than spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She had a kind and gentle soul and gave of herself and her gifts to friends and strangers alike.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Hugh Ennis, and Evelyn Grace Mathis Ennis. Kay is survived by her loving and devoted husband, David Carey Seeger, daughters, Tanya Seeger O'Mahoney (Patrick O'Mahoney), Heather Seeger Gunter (Jeremy Gunter), grandchildren – Collin O'Mahoney, Jack O'Mahoney, and MacKenzie Gunter. She is also survived by her two sisters, Linda (Gail) Ennis Wilson (Jim Wilson) and Margie Ennis Dowless (Joe Dowless).

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church at 2736 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington, NC 28401. Visitation will precede the ceremony starting at 1:00pm in the sanctuary.
