Edward Kay Walker
March 12, 1939 – July 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted father and husband, Edward Kay Walker, who passed away at the age of 86 at his home in
Lake Havasu City, Arizona on July 15, 2025.
Kay was born March 12, 1939 in Ogden Utah, the son of Edward James Walker and Minnie Walker.
Kay was raised in Lyman Wyoming, and received his education there. He started working at a young age, spending his summers working at his uncle's sawmill on the Grey's River. After high school, he went on to work as an engineer at Mountain Fuel in Salt Lake City and Provo Utah for many years. After leaving Mountain Fuel he began his long career as a business man, owning multiple successful businesses.
Kay married Iris Ann Wall on December 9, 1957. They were married for 24 years and had four children, Debra Hobson (Tony), Layne Walker, Vala Pace, and Kimberly Barker (Lorin).
Kay was a family man and an excellent father. He loved the great outdoors and, on most weekends, you could find him camping, hunting and fishing with his family. Kay made sure he made memories with all of his children, which included many road trips to various destinations, a float trip down the Green River, and riding/racing motorcycles. Kay and Ann later divorced.
On February 28, 1982 Kay married Norma Kaye (Katie) Evans and welcomed her three children, Steve, Dianna, and Brian into his life. Kay and Katie lived in Provo, Utah, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and
Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They then moved to St. George, Utah, for a short time before finally coming home to spend the rest of their lives in
Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Kay and Katie had many wonderful adventures over the next years, traveling in their motorhome to many different destinations. Along with the motorhome trips, they also enjoyed exploring the desert in their dune buggy and made many great memories with friends and family. Kay also loved music and it was a big part of his life from a young age. He played in multiple bands over the years and entertained at many events. One of his greatest joys later in life were the jam sessions he held in his shop, where he was a luthier and repaired guitars. He met many talented musicians and became good friends with them through their love of music.
Kay was a very kind and gentle man, who was honest, dependable, and responsible. He was very social and loved being with friends and family. Kay's personality was so magnetic, when he entered into a room, it would fill the whole room. He had many friends and acquaintances and was always making new friends. To know him was to love him.
Kay is survived by his wife, Katie Walker, his children, Debra, Layne, Vala, Kimberly, Steve, Dianna, and Bryan, his brothers, Milton Clark, Kyle (Bev) Walker, Russell (Sue) Walker, Milo (Janeil) Walker and his sisters, Lauralee (Larry) Youngberg and Janeen Anson, 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. And two special angels who became like daughters, Mary Bolton and Elisa Mortimer.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents, Edward James Walker and Minnie Forman Walker and his step-mother, Pearl Hale Walker, 1 sister, Luella Whetzel, 2 brothers, Bob Walker and Alma Clark, a brother-in-law, Les Anson and 2 grand-children, Chantel Christina Pace, Dustin Kay Pace and daughter-in-law Anne Cote.
A celebration of life will be held on August 24th, 2025 starting at 1:00 p.m. at Shugrue's Bridgeview room. A light lunch will be served.
