Kay A. Zika
Edwardsville - Kay A. Zika, age 80, of Meredosia, Illinois, formerly of Edwardsville, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, in Maryville. Kay was born September 2, 1942, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Calvert & Dorothy E. (Kruckeberg) Shaffer. She worked as a Building Service Worker at SIUE for several years before retiring.
Kay is survived by her son, Jim Hair & wife Debbie of Edwardsville; two daughters, Barbara Wohlford and husband Brent of Maryville, Lisa Fowler & husband Jim of Edwardsville; her significant other, Donald Cloninger; four grandchildren, Connie Tooley & husband Seth, Sydney Osborne, Lilly Hair, Jayden Hair; two great grandchildren, Teagan & Shelton Troxtell; and 2 sisters, Rae Hill & husband Joe of Godfrey, & Dorothy Shaffer of St. Charles, Missouri. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Calvert; and her granddaughter, Ashley Stewart. Kay loved to spend time with her family, fishing, playing cards & games. She was a member of the United Church of Christ.
She will be cremated according to her wishes and a celebration of life will be held in the afternoon of, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Glen Carbon American Legion. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Glen Carbon American Legion or the American Heart Assoc. Weber & Rodney Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
