Having been in the race of life for 52 years and after recovering from a pit stop for cancer just two years before, on February 14, 2024, an unexpected black flag was dropped on the race of life for Keith Eslie Bills “The Underdog”, 36K. Keith’s love of the sport of dirt track racing and his fun competitive style made him a favorite driver to watch, respect, and compete with, at many local dirt tracks in the tri-state area. He was known for his quick wit (“Call the front and tell them I’m coming”) and down to earth nature (“Not fancy, just fast”), as well as a competitive force on the racetrack.
Keith received his Engineering degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology and was a Quality Control Manager with Parkline in Winfield. Durning his 37-year racing career, he raced at least 793 times, had 143 feature wins, 189 heat wins and won 8 championships. He ran the WV Racers Auction and Tradeshow for two years in the 90s. Keith’s love of the sport of racing took second place only to his love of his family and friends.
He was preceded in finishing life’s race by his father Eslie Bills Jr. “The Hulk”. His surviving Pit Crew is Crew Chief, soulmate, and biggest supporter Lisa of Milton; his children, Chloe Bills of Winfield, Caity Bills of Winfield, and Bryce (Hannah) Ryan of Ona, his grandchildren who knew him as “Dawg’, Jaxon and Jovie, his loving mother Sheila Bills of Kincaid, his sister Cindy McGuffin (Denny) of Charlotte and his special niece Haley of Fayetteville.
